Pre-workshop meetings were conducted by the three Board clusters to define individual strategies, two-year targets and contributory action projects. In addition to the ongoing programs, the following Board resolutions, focusing on further enhancing member services were made during the planning workshop:

1. Discounts on new membership fees shall be offered to prospective individual members who are employees of institutional members.
2. The special new membership fee granted for new graduates shall be extended up to one year after graduation.
3. Student assistantships shall be offered to support PIIE operations.
4. A study shall be conducted to test the feasibility and develop a work plan of a PIIE-sponsored summer internship program.
5. The Working Group on IE Certification shall be expanded to include new Board members.

The original cluster compositions were rationalized further in the June-17 Board meeting, which resulted into the following program-based groupings:
