DESIGNING
YOUR SUPPLY CHAIN SYSTEMS
The
symbiotic relationship between supplier and customer has evolved
to alter the traditional functions and transactions affecting
the mobilization of goods and services. This phenomenon was
attributed to the increasing demand for product variety, shorter
product life cycle, parity in quality and price, quick turnaround
time, fierce global competition and to reduce the level of uncertainty.
The advent of new technology provides a wide array of solution
that periodically challenge traditional practices and systems
in the way we manage our supply chain. Its effectiveness leads
to strong and rewarding partnerships between supplier and its
customers.
In
view of the impact of such initiative and PIIE's commitment
to promote Operational Excellence, the 8th lecture series on
"DESIGNING YOUR SUPPLY CHAIN SYSTEMS." were held in the Dusit
Hotel Nikko, Makati City on July 25, 2003. The seminar/workshop
covered Supply Chain Management, Methodologies, Understanding
the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model, Performance
Metrics of supply chain systems and new and emerging technologies
in this field.
Conducting the Seminar was Mr. Raymund Marcos S. Padilla, Industry
Manager of SAP Philippines. His expertise covers business process
evaluations relevant to supply chain management, e-business
and product life cycle management. He was formerly a Board Member
of Distribution Management of the Philippines (DMAP) and the
