The
Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineering (PIIE) has finalized
plans for its National Congress 2004, the fifth congress it
has been convening annually for both industry practitioners
and academicians. The much awaited event is scheduled to take
place on February 27, 2004 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The
theme for 2004's congress brings into focus the challenges faced
by organizations in maintaining business relationships with
their customers and tackles the important issue of Value Creation: "Race to Value Creation: Solutions for Tough Times." Congress
Chairman and PIIE Vice President Vicente Co expounds on the
Congress theme after an organizing meeting with the 2004 Congress
Committee: "We will seek to understand where value resides in
our industries today and where it will move tomorrow. We ask
probing questions: How do we anticipate what customers will
want in the future and how will we deliver it to them ahead
of the competition? How do we even determine who our next major
competitor will be? How do giant multinational companies maintain
their business growth in spite of competition and how can pint
size companies take on the giants? How do we differentiate our
products? How can changes in the political landscape affect
customer needs?"
This
year's Congress will commence with a briefing on the Economic
Outlook for 2004, followed by a keynote speech on Value Creation
