ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING & LECTURE ON TQM

A meeting of Cebu-based Industrial Engineers was held on November 21 in the Talamban Campus of the University of San Carlos. Spearheaded by Rick Ordoveza, Manager of the Metro Gaisano Group and Baby Lim and Phyllis Sia of the IE Department of USC, the group invited practicing IEs from the Mactan Economic Processing Zone (MEPZA) and other Companies in the area as well as Members of Academe and Graduating Students from the three major Educational Institutions in Cebu offering Industrial Engineering- the University of San Jose Recoletos, Cebu Institute of Technology and the University of San Carlos which went out of its way to support the event. Two members of the Board participated in the organizational meeting - Mr. Randy Maranan, the Vice President in charge of Total Quality Management (TQM) of the Bank of the Philippine Islands who conducted a lecture on TQM while our President, Mr. Elpidio L. Carlota discussed what has been going on in the PIIE and the benefits of establishing a Chapter in Cebu.
