BPI Awarded ISO 9001:2000 and British Standards 7799

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) recently secured an integrated ISO certification for two ISO systems (ISO 9001- Quality Management with BS 7799-Information Security Management) and has now gained the reputation of being the first bank in the Philippines to have acquired certification to this integrated management system. One of the Members of the PIIE Board of Trustees, Mr. Randy Maranan, in his capacity as BPI VP for Total Quality, led the bank's efforts in passing the certification process for the two systems conducted by TUV. This process covered the Bank's Check-free Payment transaction processes done over the alternative delivery channels like automated teller machines (ATM), phone banking (Express Phone), internet banking (Expressonline), point-of-sale (POS) and Express Cash systems. These operations require significant customer interface and management of information. Randy should be able to share with us his experience in going through such quality management efforts for a service organization like BPI during the PIIE Congress this coming Feb 2004.
