The
Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers scored a first
again by holding the 1st PIIE Student Congress on February
24, 2004, which had the theme "Emerging Roles of the Future
Industrial Engineers." Simultaneously, it also staged the
16th Inter-University IE Quiz. The twin events were hosted
by the Saint Louis University in Baguio City led by the Chair
of the Industrial Engineering Department, Prof. Perla Dela
Cruz, IE faculty and BSIE students. The venue of the affair
was the Center for Culture and Arts, SLU.
The
Guest Speakers of the Student Congress who talked on current
and relevant topics were the following:

Chapter Exhibits were set up to showcase Chapter activities
and student academic research projects, testifying to the
dynamic and vibrant spirit that sustained the various chapters.
For the
IE Quiz, 18 schools participated. After a long and tough competition,
the following schools were declared winners:

The very
successful event was participated in by a total of 772 students
