22nd GMM Roadmap of IE Certification Program

The industrial engineering profession is always faced with the question of whether it should have a Board Examination or not. The clamor is to have a Certification Process to professionalize and enhance the ranks of industrial engineering practitioners and graduates of the IE Courses in the country. Based on this premise, the PIIE Board created a committee to study this matter, conduct consultations with the IE Community and recommend what would be the best path for the Association. For the past two years, the Committee actively researched both locally and internationally. Based on the Committee's recommendations, the PIIE Board has approved in principle the establishment of an IE Certification System to cater principally to its members.

On the occasion of the 22nd PIIE General Membership held in Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Makati City on December 03, 2003, Mr. Lauro D. Guevara presented the "Roadmap of the IE Certification Program." A member of the IE Certification Committee and a former member of the PIIE Board of Trustees, Mr. Guevara presented a very well-prepared and researched paper. As a member of the Board of Examiners of the Professional Regulation Commission, he also showed how the path to eventual Licensure could take place.
