The 9th PIIE National Congress - Theme: "Business Preservation Thru Operational Excellence: Recession Proofing Your Business"

PIIE held its 9th National Congress last March 6, 2009 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Makati City. This year's national congress was centered on the theme "Business Preservation Thru Operational Excellence: Recession Proofing Your Business". Mr. James G. Velasquez, President of IBM Philippines, Inc. is the keynote speaker of the event. Some of the speakers of the 9th PIIE National Congress included Dr. Victor A. Abola, Senior Economist of University of Asia and the Pacific who made a presentation regarding his economic prediction for the years to come and about his topic “Philippine Economic Outlook in the Midst of Maelstrom”. Mr. William S. Lorenzana, Vice President for Corporate Supply Chain Jollibee Foods Corporation tackled about Excellence of Asia Pacific Supply Chain. Mr. Florendo G. Maranan, Vice President and Head of Total Quality Office Bank of the Philippine Islands discussed “Creating New Solutions on Managing the Global Crisis” and Prof. Rene T. Domingo, of Asian Institute of Management talked about “Managing Turnaround”. The 9th Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers National Congress was truly a success.

Last December in the 9th Asia Pacific Industrial Engineering & Management Systems (APIEMS) Conference and the 11th Asia Pacific Regional Meeting of the International Foundation for Production Research hosted by the Sepuluh Nopember Institue of Technology, Bandung Institute of Technology and the Indonesian Association of Industrial Engineering Higher Education Institutions (BKSTI).
